Oxford is an hour from Paddington and I treat it as an overnight rather than an evening. The last trains back are early enough to spoil a good booking, so the ones out here are usually long: afternoon, dinner, the night, and the morning if you want it.

Why these are longer bookings

A two-hour session that ends with me looking at a departure board is a worse session, and you can feel it in the last half hour. Booking the night takes the clock out of the room entirely. It also changes what is possible: sleep deprivation, waking someone up, a long slow build across a whole evening, none of which fit inside an afternoon.

Take the room for two nights if the date is midweek and you want the morning without checkout hanging over it.

Dinner first

Oxford is a good city to eat in and I am comfortable at a table. If you want the evening to start that way, book somewhere you would actually take someone, tell me the dress code, and let the session be the thing we are both aware of and neither of us mentions until we are back in the room. It is one of my favourite ways to run a long booking, and it does more for the anticipation than anything I could do to you in the first hour.

You are paying for my time either way, so an hour at a table costs you exactly what an hour upstairs costs. Spend it however serves you.

The room

A suite, in your name, with somewhere for me to change that is not the bathroom. College accommodation and small guesthouses are not suitable, for reasons of thin walls and shared staircases. Give me the hotel and the room number on the day itself.

What travels with me

Rope, restraints, the implements for over the knee and corporal punishment, and whatever else the booking has been built around. Strap-on play needs arranging in advance, always, and never assumed. Anything requiring a frame or a fixed point depends on the room, so ask before the day rather than hoping.
